Transits of Jupiter with the Archetypal Planets

Cleaning my way down to the deepest inner-reaches of a long neglected file drawer, I happened across a forgotten and relatively speaking "ancient" copy of the astrological magazine Planet Earth, issue December 1994.

The big headline was “Coming Soon To A Planet Near You? Jupiter Conjunct Pluto...”

Geez… had it really been that long ago – December 2, 1994 – had it really been that long ago since good old transiting Jupiter and Pluto had gotten together and chosen to visit me in a close up and personal way? (28 degrees and 26 minutes of Scorpio)

Jupiter In The Power Zone
You see... whenever transiting Jupiter gets together for a conjunction party with one the transiting archetypal planets – Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto – you can generally count on Jupiter greatly expanding whatever it touches.

  • Jupiter/Pluto Theme – Moving Mountains; Deepening Faith, Rebirth, Fated Transformation
  • Jupiter/Neptune Theme – Intuition Express; Imagination, Inspiration, Escape
  • Jupiter/Uranus Theme – Freedom Unlimited; Change, Revolution, Experiment, Excitement

What To Expect
Wherever this transiting Jupiter conjunction is located in your birth chart it can function as a temporary "power zone" in the weeks following.

If, however, it happens to, by conjunction, closely touch a personal planet (the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) or chart angle (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, IC) in your birth chart - then you can often count on accessing the theme and riding the wave of the expansive transiting Jupiter conjunction until the next one occurs around 12-13 years later.

This phenomenon is likely intensified if Jupiter happens to loom large in your birth chart, such as it does in my birth chart.

Potential Jupiter Loomers
Some of the ways that Jupiter can loom large in the birth chart:

  • Sun, Moon, and/or Ascendant in Sagittarius
  • Sun and/or Moon closely aspected by Jupiter
  • Sun and/or Moon in the 9th house
  • Jupiter conjunct one of the angles (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, I.C.)

I have to admit it... looking back over the past decade or so, I could indeed see the theme of this Jupiter/Pluto tidal wave that had permeated my life (from December 1994 - December 2007)... both in my personal and professional life. Frankly... it borders on being downright spooky!
